The Santissima Annunziata Church in Florence
The Santissima Annunziata Church is a Marian shrine in Florence. Founded by served in 1250 and enlarged in the 14th century, it assumed its present appearance thanks to the work going on over three centuries. The spacious porch in pietra serena that opens at the entrance of the Basilica, was erected by Giovanni Caccini, continuing the design of the central arch of Michelozzo (1453). Inside the Church the Santissima Annunziata there is only one, but big, nave: the Interior, designed by Alberti, hosts many works: the ceiling is a work of the Giambelli, there are frescoes by Andrea del Castagno and sculptures by Giambologna. A very attractive Church and collection, despite very load style. very nice also the cloister, recommended stage in Florence!
